AI Image Detector — Extension Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Sealed Rose — AI Image Detector browser extension. The extension is a client for the same image-checking service that powers sealedrose.com/verify-image; this page describes exactly what the extension itself does, and what our servers record when you use it. For the platform-wide policy, see the main Privacy Policy.

1. What the extension does — and doesn't do

  • The extension only acts when you explicitly ask it to: right-clicking an image and choosing the menu item, or dropping, pasting, or entering an image in its side panel.
  • It does not read, track, or transmit your browsing history, the pages you visit, or any image you don't explicitly check.
  • It communicates with exactly one service: sealedrose.com. No analytics, advertising, or third-party scripts run in the extension.
  • The only data stored in your browser by the extension is an optional operator pass token (in Chrome's synced extension storage), if you enter one. Nothing else is stored locally.

2. What is sent when you check an image

When you check an image, the image itself (for uploads, drops, and pastes) or its URL (for right-clicked and linked images) is sent to sealedrose.com over HTTPS. For URL checks, our server fetches the image from that URL.

3. What our servers record

We keep a record of each check — the same record the website version keeps — including your IP address, approximate location (country), basic device/browser information, the source URL or file name, and the detection results. This is used for rate limiting (5 free checks per day), fraud and abuse prevention, and legal compliance.

Every image is first scanned against known illegal content (Microsoft PhotoDNA) before anything else happens; images that cannot be confirmed clean are never stored. Clean images may be retained for abuse prevention and to improve the service.

4. Service providers

Detection is performed by service providers acting on our behalf:

  • Hive AI — AI-generation and deepfake scoring. The image bytes are sent to Hive for analysis.
  • Google Cloud Vision — reverse-image (web) search, only when you press “Search the web for this image.”
  • Microsoft PhotoDNA — the mandatory illegal-content pre-scan.

These providers process the image to return a result; they are not permitted to use it for their own advertising.

5. What we don't do

  • We do not sell your data or the images you check.
  • We do not use checked images for advertising.
  • We do not require an account, login, or email to use the extension.
